Montana Empowerment Center, Inc. Announces Award of Parent Training and Information Center Grants
Kalispell, MT – Montana Empowerment Center, Inc., (MEC) is happy to announce that it has been awarded the Parent Training and Information Center grant in Montana for an annual $200,000 for the next five years. The award was made by the U.S. Department of Education.
MEC’s mission is to empower, encourage and educate all Montana families. Their focus is families of children and young adults (birth to 26 years of age) with disabilities. In an environment of support, empowerment, hope and respect, MEC provides relevant information, training and resources. MEC enables and empowers parents and care providers to advocate and directly support their children and youth with disabilities.

The grant is funded by the Department of Education to promote effective education of infants, toddlers, children and youth with disabilities by strengthening the role and responsibility of parents and ensuring they have meaningful opportunities to participate in their children’s education.
Rebecca Bogden-Richards
The Montana Empowerment Center Board of Directors is excited to announce that Rebecca Bogden-Richards has joined our team as our Executive Director. We are confident Rebecca will provide strong leadership as we transition the Parent Training Information Center (PTI) Program back to Montana.
Rebecca has over a decade of leadership, development and management experience in non-profit and community-based organizations. She is the mother of a child with Cystic Fibrosis who has a 504 plan to accommodate her educational needs. Rebecca spent seven years as an advocate with Parents, Let’s Unite for Kids, the former Montana PTI center. She designed and implemented several successful trainings supporting parents and professionals across the state. Rebecca has served as a family representative on the Governor appointed Family Support Services Advisory Board and several other local boards to help guide decision making for families.
Rebecca oversees staff operations and partners with the Montana Empowerment Center Board of Directors on organizational planning. During this transition, we are committed to our vision that Montana families of children with disabilities will have the information, resources and support they need to make informed choices to support their children and empower their family.
